How to make your professional CV

Name & contact details:

the first part of your CV is mentioning your name. Americans prefer mention present position on the top of the front page. Experts suggest that write the name instead of write curriculum vitae’s title. In contact detail, write your present/ mailing address where employers can contact you and add your cell phone number. Needless to say, always give your active number; because employers are never going to meet you rather contact you over phone. Moreover, put your email address on your CV. Though, not all employers communicate with you through emails but email address makes your CV more professional than ever. Furthermore, it reflects your smartness too.

Personal Profile

However, personal profile is the shortest part of the CV but it plays most important role. This particular part is the summary of “You”. That means, it clearly displays who you are, what are you capable of, your strengths and goals regarding the relevant job you are currently serving.

Employment History

The employment history or career history or work experience section is crucial part of the CV. Main key points of this part are to focus on your previous jobs you worked. All of the employers mostly see this section with care. So, all you need is to make this section more carefully and keep it tidy. You have to write it in a reverse order. Which means, put your recent job, position & duration period first. Then you should include the other jobs orderly. In this case, use bullets or numerical numbers to separate them. You should keep in mind that, never add too many irrelevant things or huge job description which you’ve never actually done. It is also said that excessive use of jargon and technical terms can create problem for readers, which is not good for the employees.

Academic Background:

Almost all the people take academic section likely. They just simply put their alma mater’s name, degrees & date of graduation, that’s it !!! But it is not always simple though. Rather finish it amateurish way, follow these guidelines:

  1. Mention the degrees you received, major subject, name of the institute, it’s location and year you graduated.
  2. Start with your highest degree and list all of your degrees in reverse chronological order.
  3. Delete high school education if you graduated from college already.
  4. If you earn graduation duration more than 5 years, remove it.

Extra Curriculum Activities

Extra curriculum activities not only show the interests of an individual but also help the recruiters get to know the valuable skills you have. This will improve the percentage of an individual to get hired.


At the end, complete the CV writing with references. Applicants should include at least two referees at the end of the CV. These two persons should be those whom applicants know very well. Most companies around the world want to see the references who can testify you to the prospective employers.
